Scott Finlinson has been the Manager of Organizational Efficiency at NORESCO for four years. Scott has more than ten years experience assessing needs, defining project requirements, estimating costs and negotiating contracts specializing in organizational energy conservation through behavior change. He has also designed and executed program evaluation and validation research to demonstrate the effectiveness of a unique behavioral change program custom-tailored to a specific organization while developing technical training and support materials for organizational members. Scott has written and presented numerous energy-related research publications at various professional conferences, retreats, is published in several journals and has recently become a contributing author to a book chapter.

All organizations have the responsibility to act in a sustainable way. The implementation of an energy performance contract (EPC) presents an opportunity to increase any organization’s level of sustainability, which is inherently positive (sustainability is a goal that appeals to most everyone). NORESCO’s Sustainable Behavior component introduces a unique energy conservation measure (ECM), which enhances not only the EPC itself, but existing organizational resources, leading to increased organizational sustainability.

An EPC automatically enhances the “green factor” and level of environmental stewardship in addition to economic goals (profit). Sustainable Behavior brings organizational sustainability into balance by incorporating the social goals (people). In simpler terms, without Sustainable Behavior, the EPC is incomplete with regard to an organization’s sustainability goals.

Scott will describe successful implementation of work place energy conservation behavior change including discovery, training, and motivation.
